Digital Footprint / Digital Citizenship
A digital footprint is everything that links to your name through the online world that someone else can get to from any computer in the world. If you use the internet anything you do can be found by anyone from around the world. People who you have never met before can see it. It can be permanent, it can be found, it can be copied, and it can be passed on.
Digital Citizenship is how you treat others, and how they treat you online. It's just like the golden rule treat others the way you want to be treated but this is treating them with respect in your digital life.
Examples of positive digital citizenship is saying nice things to others online. You can add them to a group that you create, you don't share their personal information, you don't talk about them badly to other people online, you don't talk about a party or something that you are going to that you know they weren't invited to, and you don't make nasty comments or posts about other people.
Examples of negative digital citizenship is calling someone bad names, making nasty posts about them, telling everyone their personal information, posting embarrassing pictures of them, and bragging about things to them such as parties, popularity or friends.
Assignment: DigiTeen Introduction
After reading some introductions from other students in the project:
1. Look at the rubric so that you will know how the introduction will be graded (advanced is worth the most points, beginning is worth the least points).
2. Write 5 - 10 (or more) sentences to introduce yourself.
3. Pay particular attention to correct spelling, capitalization and punctuation - this is SCHOOL WRITING, not TEXT writing.
Hello! My name is Allie. I am 12 years old. I go to Anamosa West Middle School. I love to play sports and hang out with my friends. Some of the sports I like to play are soccer, basketball, volleyball, track, and dance. My favorite color is purple. When I'm not playing sports and hanging out with friends I like to scrapbook. My family is very important to me! I spent most of my summer with my aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. I have one brother named Damon who is 17. My mom's name is Lynette and my dad's name is Tom. I use the internet quite a bit! I play the guitar and I love to sing. My favorite school subjects are math and language arts. I love to meet new people!
